Stars...

Well, I did it.  I just finished uploading my kit for round 4 of The Studio's Next Designer Contest.  This round, we were able to pick our own inspiration photo and palette (from the photo).  I can't figure out how to get a direct link to the photo I used, so here's the link to the gallery and I'll tell you it's photo 67 (Moon Rise Over Cove Point at Night Under Stars).

So you can visit here to get the links to my kit.

Travel Much??

Well, round 3 was much more difficult (for me).  Here is the inspiration piece

We were also given a color palette

The challenge was to use the photo as an inspiration piece (don't forget about the moon), and as many colors as we wanted from the palette.  We also had to choose 1 additional color to add to the palette and we weren't allowed to use any CU tools aside from what we received in the prize from Round 2.
at least 10 papers, at least 3 solid
24 elements

So, I had held off telling my husband about the contest, but I had been so excited I made it to Round 3, that I told him then.  I showed him the new picture and he told me it made him feel like traveling the world.  So I thought and I thought and tried to figure out how I could tie that in to the moon.  I am always thinking about songs in my head and I my head kept jumping to the song "Somewhere Out There" from "An American Tail".  So I designed a kit with the line "it helps to think we're sleeping underneath the same big sky" to help direct my kit.  My kit is supposed to be that all over the world, we all share the same sky and that no matter where we go, we always have that same sky above us.

Like Fish?

Well, I made it to Round 2 in the Studio's Next Designer Contest.  Turns out each round has a common theme; the moon.  This week we were given a photograph to be inspired by and to create our own palettes.
Looking at this picture, I was taken by the red lighthouse and new I had to have that red in my kit.  I decided to go with a fishing theme.  And this is what I came up with.  I hope you enjoy.  Please visit the link at the Studio do receive the links for downloading my full kit.

Amore

Hello out there!

(does it echo??)  Well, after the Roo shut it's doors, I literally didn't even turn my PS on except to make monthly desktops for my computer.  The kids are back in school and I found that during the summer espeically, I was spending too much time on here.  So I took a long break...but what sucked me in was the Next Designer Contest at The Studio.  I wasn't going to enter, but then I hurriedly made an entry and turned it in with a few hours to spare last night.  We were given a picture with a color palette as inspiration.

And this is what I made

I'm pretty pleased with what came out.  Considering I only gave it a few hours over 2 days.  If you'd like to get the mini kit (and all the other ones too), you can visit my entry right here and then go through the whole gallery because there's 40+ mini kits that coordinate with mine.
